The flag of Puerto Rico, adopted in 1952, was inspired by the Cuban flag, reflecting the historical links and solidarity between the independence struggles of these two islands. It is composed of five alternating horizontal stripes of red and white, with a blue isosceles triangle at the shaft containing a white five-pointed star.
