A national symbol steeped in history
The flag of Portugal, adopted in 1911 after the establishment of the Republic, is composed of two vertical fields: green on one side of the flagpole and red on the other. Green symbolizes hope and renewal, while red represents courage and the blood shed by those who defended the nation.
