A national symbol steeped in history
The flag of Honduras, adopted in 1949, is composed of three horizontal stripes, with two blue stripes at the top and bottom and a white stripe in the middle. In the center of the white stripe are five blue stars arranged in an X-shape. The blue stripes represent the two oceans that Honduras hoped one day to touch, the Pacific and the Atlantic, while the stars symbolize the five original nations of the Central American Federation, illustrating the aspirations for unity and solidarity between the countries of the region.
