A national symbol steeped in history
The flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina, adopted in 1998, consists of a blue and yellow triangle representing the approximate geographical shape of the country, and the three constituent peoples (Bosnians, Serbs and Croats). The background is blue, with a yellow triangle pointing upwards along the flagpole. The flag is also adorned with white five-pointed stars, cut at the top and bottom, aligned in a diagonal stripe that follows the triangle. These stars represent Europe and Bosnia-Herzegovina’s aspiration to European integration.
